frequently asked questions
How did you learn photography?
I was first introduced to photography was in middle school, where I fell in love with the darkroom. Throughout high school, I served as yearbook and journalism photographer.
My passion for photography led me to the Art Institute of Seattle and eventually Montana State University, where I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Photography.
What’s your photography style?
My photography style can be described as a blend of documentary, fine art, and beautiful creative images. As much as possible, I try to be in the background and photograph your day as it unfolds. During the portraits of the two of you and the bridal party, I look for interesting angles and gorgeous light to create beautiful, natural images.
How long does it take to get the photos?
My normal turnaround is 4-8 weeks, but usually closer to 4.
What are your Prices and packages?
Wedding packages start at $2000 for 4 hours of coverage.
I also believe in giving what you need in terms of wedding coverage and all packages can be customized. All packages include an unlimited number of images, flash drive, artistic retouching with proof book, and a website for family and friends to view. Please contact me and we can begin to customize a package for you.
I have never had my photo taken and I’m very awkward, can you help me?
Absolutely!!! Most people are not accustomed to being in front of a camera, and everyone needs a little help in this department. Your job is not to be good in front of a camera. I’ll be there to assist and encourage you, so that you feel natural, comfortable, and at ease, and that’s when I’m able to get those gorgeous photos of you.
Have you shot at my location before?
If your location is on Oahu, chance are, I have photographed it within the last 10 years. If not, I always love to discover new locations. If I haven’t been to your location, I am confident that I will do an excellent job capturing it. I love to discover new locations and scout them before a wedding to find those hidden gems for the portrait session.
I love the look of Instagram filters, can you do that with my wedding photos?
Of coarse! I tend to feature more natural images on the website, images that will be lasting and timeless. All of those Instagram type looks are done in post-processing and I am very comfortable tailoring images to your preference.
Do you need a shot list?
Having a shot list is not only beneficial for me, but also for you. Afterall, we don’t want to miss anyone for the family photos. In addition to the scheduled wedding events, I’m very observant and will be constantly looking for special moments throughout your celebration. An extensive list of every shot you can think of isn’t necessary.
How far in advance should I book you?
I typically get booked anywhere from 6-18 months in advance. I would recommend putting down a deposit as soon as you have made your decision, so as to not miss out on a booking.
How many photographers are included in your package?
While shooting, I try to be as unobtrusive as possible, think of me as a photography ninja. I will photograph the wedding alone if you have less than 50-75 people. If you have more than 75 people, I will include a second shooter at no additional cost to you.
Do you shoot small / large / same sex / Indian / Christian / or non-religious weddings?

My husband / wife / fiancé / child hates being photographed, can you help me?
Once again, I will create a relaxed situation and make them feel as comfortable as possible. My clients often comment that they are surprised how easy the session was and how comfortable they feel. For weddings, I encourage couples to do an engagement session so that we will all have an opportunity to get to know each other. By the time the wedding day comes around, we’ll all feel like old friends.
How many hours of coverage do we need?
That really depends on the type of wedding you are having. For smaller more intimate weddings, you can be looking at 4 hours of coverage. If the wedding is larger and more formal you may need up to 12 hours of coverage. The average amount is around 6-8 hours to get the full day coverage.
We want to meet you, but don't live in Hawai'i. How can we meet?
Many of my clients are not able to meet in person before the wedding. I am happy to speak with you on the phone, or have a skype meeting for us to get to know each other a little bit before the shoot.
Do you do video as well?
I provide photography services only. I want to do the best job that I can do and provide high quality products for my clients, and that wouldn’t happen if I was trying to do two things at once. I would be happy to give you referrals of excellent videographers that I have worked with in the past.
Do you shoot destination weddings?
Absolutely! Travel is one of my favorite things, and is also a perk of being a photographer. I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings in Mexico, Belize, New Zealand, and all over
Do you make albums and prints?
Yes, I have several album companies that I love working with, and I can provide you with a list of products that I offer my clients.
Will I be charged for downtime between events on my wedding day.
Typically, the photography coverage does run continuously. The fact is, I’m never truly resting during the day. Whether I’m backing up images, setting up for the second venue, traveling to the second location, taking venue shots, or making up for lost photo time because of wedding day delays, there is always something to photograph. In many cases, we use that “”downtime”” to take you and your significant other out for a photo session. If there is a few hours break in between, I will sometimes charge a flat fee to split the coverage.
We love your work and want to book you! What are the next steps?

Unfortunately, I cannot hold a date for You, until the deposit is received. I look forward to hearing from you, and having the opportunity to capture all of your precious moments!
