About Me
I've always been a photographer at heart, even before I had a camera. Isn't that what all of the photographers say? Well in this case, it's true. I can barely remember a time when I wasn't interested in taking pictures. It all started in middle school, where I took my first darkroom class. I fell in love with the magic of the darkroom; learning to roll film in the pitch dark, watching the picture materialize in the developer, inhaling all of those chemicals, ok not the last one. My passion led me to get my Bachelors of Fine Art in photography.
After college I moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where I learned more than 4 years of photography school ever taught me. I assisted at the Santa Fe Photo Workshops and it was one of the best experiences I have had. Imagine Below Deck (the tv show) but for a bunch of photo nerds (I mean that in the best way). I spent my time assisting, teaching and sponging up every drop of knowledge I could. Being surrounded by people who love photography as much as I did was amazing. While in Santa Fe, I also taught photography as part of a gang aversion program at the Boys and Girls Club.
Photography ultimately brought me to Hawaii where I started shooting weddings. I started my company back in 2007, and have photographed hundreds of weddings, engagements and family pictures. My photography feels very much like a part of my identity and I know it sounds cheesy, but I'm still going to say it. I could never imagine doing anything else, and I am so grateful to do something I love every day.

I love weddings and I love to photograph LOVE! I myself even got married. I know what you're thinking, and yes someone wanted to marry me. It's crazy, I know. And he's handsome, that's him over there. This is a picture of us standing in a boat. Why you ask? We did it for some awesome pictures, of coarse. #Nailedit. Our wedding day was incredible, I now realize why people get married multiple times. I'm not going to say the best thing about a wedding is marrying your best friend, because that would make my real best friends mad. Let's not do that. But I will say that if you do it right, it's one of the most magical days you will ever experience. I love being married. Alika is hysterically funny, adventurous, and, adorable. I admit, I am a little biased.
Travel
Everyone says it, but in this case it is one of my absolute favorite things. I love to travel and explore the world. I am so lucky to have a job that allows me to see the world and take as much vacation as I can handle. Ok, not only lucky, but I worked damn hard to get here too. Also, I will go anywhere for the sake of some good photos. My yearly goal is to use up every single one of my husband's vacation days. Please don't tell him. Some of my favorite travels have been to Peru, Italy, Greece, Sri Lanka, Argentina and New Zealand. I try to go on at least one international trip per year. There are very few places that are not on my travel bucket list.
Personal Project
My senior thesis in college turned out to be the start to my life long photo project. I started documenting my family, mostly on our farm in Montana. I have explored the connection to my family now for about 20 years, one day I hope to publish a book about it. Throughout this project I have come to realize that all families have their own unique dynamics, but also underlying events that bring them all together. Being able to document these events has been an incredible privilege and I am so grateful that my family allows me this access. They probably know I would just follow them with a camera anyway.
